ULTIMATE MALDIVES EXPERIENCE
DHANGETHI & FUVAHMULAH
EXPERIENCE TWO OF THE BEST DIVE LOCATIONS IN THE MALDIVES
- 12 Days / 11 Nights
- People: 8
- Dhangethi & Fuvahmulah, Maldives
This expedition takes both of our current expeditions and combines them into one ultimate trip. Allowing you to see several of the incredible megafauna species that call the Maldives home. Your adventure will begin on the island Dhangethi, where you’ll do aproximetly 12 dives, 10 throughout the reef and 1 for the whale sharks and 1 with the manta rays. On the 28th/29th you will make your way to the isolated island of Fuvahmulah, where you’ll complete the remainder of your dives. Here you will do 3 dives a day, 1 deep, 1 reef and one at the famous tiger alley.
Fuvahmulah, a single island atoll in the Maldives island chain. Surrounded by 3km drop offs on each side has not only protected the coral in this area, but the island acts as a magnet for many pelagic species. At the time of year we will be visiting, it is possible to see thresher, hammerhead and whale sharks, plus oceanic mantas! But the stars of the island and the reason we are visiting this island is the TIGER SHARKS.
Argueably the best tiger shark dive in the world, we descned along the islands wall and make our way to the mouth of the marina. Here over the years fishermen have thrown there offal (left over fish) into the water , and the tiger sharks have learned they can come here for a free snack. Today us divers get in position with our back to the blue, a boat comes overhead and drops off the morning catch of tuna heads, and the guides hide them in a pile of rocks. Then we play the waiting game. Here tiger sharks are GUARANTEED, so before long you’ll see these apex predators. With experienced guides watching your back (and all around) they keep you safe while watching the sharks search for their food. THIS IS AN EXPERIENCE YOU WILL NEVER FORGET.
Aside from the tiger sharks there is plenty of dive spots around the island. We’ll be doing a mixture of reef, wall and blue water dives in search of the wildlife that uses Fuvahmulah as a stepping stone.
Dhangethi, a picturesque island nestled in the South Ari Atoll of the Maldives, is renowned for its stunning natural beauty and vibrant marine life. The island is surrounded by pristine coral reefs that are teeming with a diverse array of marine species, making it a prime destination for snorkeling and diving enthusiasts. These reefs are home to an array of colourful corals and a multitude of fish species, from tiny, vibrant reef fish to larger pelagic species. One of the most exciting aspects of the waters around Dhangethi is the opportunity to encounter some of the ocean’s most majestic creatures. The South Ari Atoll is famously known for its frequent sightings of whale sharks and manta rays. These gentle giants can often be seen gliding gracefully through the water, offering unforgettable experiences for divers and snorkelers. Whether exploring the intricate coral formations or swimming alongside these magnificent animals, Dhangethi provides a captivating glimpse into the rich marine biodiversity of the Maldives.
South Ari Dive center is the First ever PADI 5 Star Dive center at South Ari Atoll. We are located in Dhangethi island, which is the Center of the Best Dive sites in the Maldives. All famous dive sites are located within 5 to 45 minutes of traveling from our dive center in Dhangethi. We have Experts with more than 17 years of experience in diving. South Ari Atoll located in the west of the archipelago is famous for its year-round population of whale sharks and Mantas which cruise the outer atoll channel gorging themselves on planktons. This makes scuba diving with us so special. We happily combine the friendliness and hospitality from south Ari Dive, to make your diving holiday a fun-filled one to cherish for a life time.
Because of the nature of the dives we highly recommend you have your Advanced Scuba Diver Qualification and understand the dangers of deep diving. However the dives (including the tiger dive) are all accessible to open water scuba divers, except for 1 site, so confident open water divers are welcome.
