20th Jan to 5th Feb
THE WORLDS BEST TIGER SHARK DIVE
Pick your dates between the 20th Jan and the 5th Feb and join us diving with the iconic tiger sharks of Fuvahmulah! On top of the incredible diving we’ll be filming for our first offical short film during the trip!
- 8 Days / 7 Nights
- People: 8
- Fuvahmulah, Maldives
Fuvahmulah, a single island atoll in the Maldives island chain. Surrounded by 3km drop offs on each side has not only protected the coral in this area, but the island acts as a magnet for many pelagic species. At the time of year we will be visiting, it is possible to see thresher, hammerhead and whale sharks, plus oceanic mantas! But the stars of the island and the reason we are visiting this island is the TIGER SHARKS.
Argueably the best tiger shark dive in the world, we descned along the islands wall and make our way to the mouth of the marina. Here over the years fishermen have thrown there offal (left over fish) into the water , and the tiger sharks have learned they can come here for a free snack. Today us divers get in position with our back to the blue, a boat comes overhead and drops off the morning catch of tuna heads, and the guides hide them in a pile of rocks. Then we play the waiting game. Here tiger sharks are GUARANTEED, so before long you’ll see these apex predators. With experienced guides watching your back (and all around) they keep you safe while watching the sharks search for their food. THIS IS AN EXPERIENCE YOU WILL NEVER FORGET.
Aside from the tiger sharks there is plenty of dive spots around the island. We’ll be doing a mixture of reef, wall and blue water dives in search of the wildlife that uses Fuvahmulah as a stepping stone.
Because of the nature of the dives we highly recommend you have your Advanced Scuba Diver Qualification and understand the dangers of deep diving. However the dives (including the tiger dive) are all accessible to open water scuba divers, except for 1 site, so confident open water divers are welcome.
Aside from doing 15 exhilarating dives over the 7 day period, your stay on Fuvahmulah will be relaxing and you’ll have ample time to explore.
DAY 1 – Departure from Male and arrive at the airport and transferred to the dive shop. Here you’ll organise your equipment and receive a briefing on the island, and the tiger shark dive.
DAY 2 to 6 – Breakfast around 6am at Cafe Eden, transfer to the marina. 3 Back to Back dives, with 1 hour surface interval in between, where we come back to the marina in between dives. 1 Deeper dive, Shark Dive and reef dive is the usual layout of the days diving. After the dives we get transferred back to the accommodation. Lunch is not included so you can choose where to eat, we have some recommendations if you don’t want t0 eat at Cafe Eden. You then have the rest of the afternoon to relax and explore, dinner will be around 7pm.
DAY 7 – Due to the nature of our diving, the depth, duration and amount we aim to have 18 hours between our last dive and flying out. This Day 7 is generally a no diving day, however it is possible to fit in an additional tiger dive on this day, for an additional cost. This can be arranged during your stay. Everything else throughout the day will be the same as day 2-6.
DAY 8 – No diving, fly out from Fuvahmulah on the early flight or the afternoon flight. If on the afternoon flight breakfast will be provided.
